Project U.S.E Documentary
At WeCareTN, We are committed to harm reduction and healing justice work specific to black transwomen who are at the intersection of drug use, HIV or HCV, and sex work. Project U.S.E. (Understanding Sex Workers Experiences) is a program led by black transgender women to center black transgender women who do sex work and use drugs. This national strategy serves as an HIV education and prevention strategy that aims to be inclusive of pleasure, harm reduction, survival, and trauma. Project U.S.E. is an ambassador-led strategy hosting salon-style HIV education and Harm Reduction conversations.
Being an organization founded and led by a native Memphian and Black Trans Woman, WeCareTN is uniquely positioned to apply our highly successful wraparound approach to a culturally enriched, transformative justice and healing approach.
The Project U.S.E Documentary serves as a storytelling visual aid to explain the need for an inclusive strategy better. The documentary shares some of the findings from the Project U.S.E community needs assessment. It also shares the amazing lived experience of some of the ambassadors leading this project.
